On the weekend of October 3rd — 5th, 2025, we jammed at the Showroom with a huge group and over 20 teams! This year there were a lot of ambitious solo team members, but we still managed to fit in our Showroom venue.
This year’s theme was ‘Secret‘ and the diversifiers were ‘Wave‘ (in honor of the Alvar Aalto anniversary!), ‘Life is a loan‘ and ‘Unexpected consequences‘. Within this theme, we saw several murder or horror mystery games in particular. However, there was plenty of variation, and the game solutions were once again able to surprise, delight and make you laugh.
Proud development
As an organizer, it was nice to notice, especially at this Jam, that there were familiar faces at the event since the first Frosted. And these peeps have developed enormously as game makers. Although Jams are not expected to have the most skillful or polished games in the world, the traces of development and learning are clearly visible. Great work!
New game developers are also found at all Jams, and word spreads to even casually interested people due to the relaxed atmosphere of this event. It’s gratifying to see that, and I hope that the participants had as much fun and enjoyment at these events as we, the organizers, had. Many of us are also there jamming from start to finish.
This year, we completely eliminated loan PCs, which made the stress and work on our end considerably easier. However, if this chance bothered you as a participant or you were unable to participate because of it, please contact us afterwards! Of course, we always want to find ways to make the event accessible – within the resources and limits of the organizers, of course.
We continue Jamming in February 2026
The Global Game Jam site, or “FGJ” (Finnish Game Jam), will also be held at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences Showroom. More information about the event will be announced after the turn of the year. Maybe we’ll see you there!
The next Frosted Game Jam will be held in a year’s time, in the fall of 2026.
