The ‘Aurora Innovates: Transforming Healthcare Education through XR and AI’ project develops XR and AI-based virtual simulations for nursing education, allowing students to practice clinical procedures in a realistic, safe environment. The main project partner from the EU is the University of Oulu, and from Norway, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, with Lapland University of Applied Sciences participating as a project partner.
FrostBit will create virtual clinical environments, AI- and speech recognition–driven characters, as well as interactive and adaptive learning tools within the project. Our role also includes implementing adaptive learning techniques, providing real-time feedback, and conducting usability testing to enhance nursing education and workforce readiness.
The game team develops two networked VR learning environments where students can practice realistic clinical scenarios individually or in groups. One environment focuses on emergency care situations, while the other focuses on home care. The simulations include comprehensive scenarios involving patients, their relatives, and healthcare staff, offering a safe and practical way to develop professional competencies.
The simulations will be available in Finnish, English, and Norwegian.
