GenAll – Software production process development

Process development and artificial intelligence verification

Artificial intelligence and automation have become an integral part of modern software development. Their use extends beyond programming to areas such as testing, documentation, quality assurance and data analysis. When used effectively, AI can speed up development, reduce repetitive work and support developers in their daily tasks. However, its use still requires professional expertise, critical evaluation and careful consideration of information security and responsible use.

The Generate All (GenAll) project is a large-scale development and investment project focused on improving software development processes in Lapland. The project is coordinated by FrostBit and explores how artificial intelligence and automation can be applied to make software development more efficient, secure and adaptable to the changing needs of the industry.

The GenAll project explores how artificial intelligence and automation can transform software development and the everyday work of software professionals.

  • The Asset Bank is being developed as a web-based testing platform for experimenting with AI and automation, particularly in areas such as resource management and search.
  • The game programming project provides a separate environment for testing how AI can be used across different stages of game development, from initial development to completion.
  • New demo and proof-of-concept solutions are developed together with local software companies to address their specific needs and explore practical applications of AI.

The focus is not on creating finished products, but on using these projects as practical test environments. The key objectives are to experiment, test, verify and document how AI works in practice, what benefits and challenges it brings, and which approaches could be applied more broadly. The knowledge and methods gained through these experiments will be shared with industry through workshops, seminars and publications.

In addition, an investment project will strengthen the development infrastructure of the Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The aim is to provide the development laboratories with the computing capacity and tools needed to experiment with AI and other rapidly evolving technologies. Improved infrastructure will support more efficient testing and development and strengthen the region’s ability to keep pace with technological change.
